In early 1776, Thomas Paine’s Common Sense helped rapidly shift public opinion toward American independence. First shared aloud in taverns and public spaces, the pamphlet sparked debate and conversation across the colonies. This public reading recreates that original experience, using multiple readers throughout the space to bring Paine’s words to life and explore how his arguments helped persuade Americans to embrace independence during the opening months of the Revolution.
The event will include beer, wine, and refreshments.
